What is Adult Protective Services?

Adult Protective Services (APS) is dedicated to protecting the elderly, 65 years and older, and dependent adults between the ages of 18-64 who have physical or mental limitations that restrict their ability to carry out normal activities or to protect their rights.

The overall goal of Adult Protective Services, is to alleviate danger to the life, health or safety of elderly or dependent adults.

To accomplish this, we:

• Assess all reports of serious abuse, neglect or exploitation within 10 calendar days.
• Immediately investigate all reports of physical abuse and or likelihood of great bodily harm or death.
• Provide short-term crisis intervention, information and referral, to alleviate danger and help access appropriate resources

• Arrangement of out-of-home care
• Referral for money management
• Broker resources
